Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is the process of removing hair through a laser which destroys the hair follicle along with it. By the FDA’s definition, “permanent” hair loss is a significant reduction in the number of hairs regrowing after treatment. Additionally, many patients continue to experience hair growth on their treated areas years after their last treatment. What this simply means is that laser treatment with these devices permanently reduces the total number of body hair, but it does not result in permanent removal of all hair.

Laser Treatments

Laser surgery is a procedure that uses a laser (as opposed to a scalpel) to break up tissue. Types of surgical lasers include carbon dioxide, argon, Nd:YAG lasers and chemicals such as potassium titanyl phosphate. A range of lasers such as erbium, dye, Q-switch laser and CO2 are used to treat a variety of treatments including scars, vascular and pigmented lesions as well as for photo-rejuvenation. Laser surgery also often bypasses the surface. The principle of laser surgery works on SPTL. The laser beam is passed through it until it encounters the chromophore, which absorbs the laser beam. After absorption of the laser beam, heat energy is also applied to induce coagulation. After this, necrosis of the target tissue occurs, in which the unnecessary tissue is removed through laser surgery.
